The project aims to support formal and non-formal educators, in designing and applying Inclusive Education practices for diverse target groups, with an emphasis on disadvantaged learners (refugees, poor, marginalised, excluded etc.) MEdIES is leading a consortium of organizations and experts from Greece, Lebanon, Jordan and Palestine, that will co-develop and pilot educational interventions in all countries. The experience gained will be eventually compiled in the form of a condense Guidebook on Inclusive Education (in English). The first focus groups with Greek experts took place in February and March and will feed in the upcoming consortium meeting (Athens, 23-25 May). B.Awareness raising activities for Water in Malta (March-April 2019) MEdIES/MIO-ECSDE cooperates once more with the National Water Conservation and Awareness Centre of Malta in the organization of a water awareness raising campaign for 2019. The campaign aims to inform and sensitize the youth and citizens, starting with the WCAC visitors on the non-conventional water resources (NCWRs), water issues and their relation with energy, food and ecosystem aspects. The campaign includes: (i) an exhibition of posters (story-boards) on water issues, created by students of the University of Western Attica (Greece), that will be displayed at the WCAC; (ii) a series of short video animations compiled by the university students, to be on projected in the Centre (iii) the organization of a ‘Water Cinema’ event in April 2019 (iv) the production of promo-material.
C. ESD Seminar for Greek educators & local stakeholders, Crete, 26 March 2019 Prof. Scoullos, MEdIES Coordinator and Vasilis Psallidas, MEdIES advisor, were invited to coordinate two sessions about UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserves and ESD, respectively, in a training seminar that the Prefecture of Heraklion (Crete, Greece) organized on 26 March for educators and local stakeholders. The entire seminar focused on the topics of sustainable development and management of Protected Areas, and particularly, of Asterousia (candidate to join the BR international network). Some 40 participants followed the training with interest.
II. MATERIAL & ICTs A. The new educational app on Non Conventional Water Resources soon to be ‘on air' MEdIES is close to finalizing a new web APP on Non-Conventional Water Resources (NCWR) that capitalizes on the 10-yr education interventions of the NCWR Programme in Greece, Cyprus, and Malta. The APP will be an interactive online learning tool inviting learners (10+ yrs) to discover various aspects of NCWRs through games and quizzes. The APP is expected to be online within 2019 in English. Stay tuned!
B.New MOOCs on odour pollution MEdIES is currently developing a series of MOOCs on the issues related to odour pollution, in the framework of the EU funded “D-NOSES” project. During the upcoming Partners Meeting in mid-May 2019 the draft MOOCs will be presented and discussed with all partners. More at: http://medies.net/articles.asp?cID=27&aID=1265
